Ready for a change, but not sure how to go about it? For a man, finding the right hairstyle can take a little bit of work. But when you get a result you are pleased with, all the work is worth the effort.


Instructions

Step 1

Look at men's hair, taking note of styles you like. Search though magazines and find several samples of styles you are considering. If you are a style novice, a good stylist will be able to help you find a style that suits you.

Step 2

Find a stylist. Word of mouth is a great way to get a recommendation. If you like another man's hair, ask him who does it for him. If you have a stylist you like, make sure you feel comfortable asking him for a change. Some hairdressers give consultations before they chop, so feel free to ask.

Step 3

Bring your examples with you when you meet with your stylist. She will help you make sure the new style fits your life. If you are a shower-and-go type of man, you won't want to mess with a blow dryer or a lot of product. Other things that could play a factor are the shape of your face, how much maintenance the cut will require and what you do for a living.

Step 4

Communicate with your stylist. Make sure you both have a clear picture of what you want the end result to be. Normally, a stylist will have you take a look at the finished cut. Again, if you want something done differently, ask!



Tips & Warnings

Maintaining good posture throughout the cut is something you can do to help your stylist. Sitting up straight and leaving legs uncrossed will help your stylist assure your cut is the right length and even.
